PGDFT : Objective
The PGDFT is a foundation course for developing a competent cadre of business executives to meet the country's growing requirements for personnel in the field of Foreign Trade Management. The programme aims at providing a relative view of global business through a comprehensive coverage incorporating all the important areas and disciplines relevant to Foreign Trade Activities. Candidates undertaking this course have lucrative employment opportunities in private corporate sectors. The altered geo-political and economic scenario demands an understanding of the forces of international economic, financial and trade relations; institutions and administrative policies; and the governing procedures. These are essential for achieving economic goals and objectives as well as for proper management of foreign trade. Along with the government and governmental institutions, private sectors too need to strive to find global markets for their products and plan imports and exports necessary for business purposes. Many industrial units in the country would require people conversant with foreign trade and international financial theory, policies and procedures at different levels.
Job Opportunities With PGDFT
Students who complete the course are expected to have lucrative employment opportunities in private corporate sectors i.e. export-import departments, governmental organisations, All India Institutions like export-imports, commercial banks, financial institutions, multinational companies in India and abroad. Students can also start their own consultancy or an export-import agency in Foreign Trade.
Eligibility
Any graduate with 45% marks (40% for reserved category students, graduated from University within Maharashtra), equivalent grade (b+) or those who are appearing for their final year degree examination in any discipline of an approved University.
Internship
Students are required to undertake a 45 days industrial project work programme after Semester I in any Logistics organisation or any organisation engaged in the International Business.
